Mike Zalewski Appointed as Assistant Coach for Utica Comets
The Utica Comets have officially welcomed Mike Zalewski to their coaching team as an assistant coach.
Originally from New Hartford, N.Y., Zalewski has a history with the Comets, having played 167 regular-season games for the team between 2014 and 2017. During his tenure, he accumulated 24 goals and 39 assists. He also contributed one goal and three assists in 27 playoff games, notably being part of the 2015 Calder Cup Finals squad.
The 34-year-old Zalewski also had a brief stint in the NHL, appearing in six games for the Vancouver Canucks and recording two assists. His playing career concluded in Europe, where he spent six seasons playing in Germany and Austria.
With this new appointment, Zalewski will serve as an assistant alongside Matt Carkner on the staff of head coach Ryan Parent.
