Declan Rice Close to New Arsenal Deal
Declan Rice is reportedly nearing an agreement on a new, extended contract with Arsenal. Sources indicate the deal is in its advanced stages.
Since his £105 million transfer from West Ham in July 2023, the England midfielder has become an integral part of the Gunners' squad.
His current contract extends to the end of next season. Talks regarding an extension were confirmed to be ongoing in March.
The 27-year-old has played 165 times for Arsenal, contributing to their Premier League title win last season, ending a 22-year drought.
Rice's new contract is expected to bring a substantial raise to his current reported £240,000 weekly salary. This would place him financially alongside Bukayo Saka, who is believed to earn around £350,000 per week.
Although Rice recently withdrew from Thomas Tuchel's England squad for a three-week training camp, he has earned 80 caps for England since changing his international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland in 2019. Tuchel has previously praised Rice as one of Europe's leading midfielders.
He is anticipated to play for Arsenal in their upcoming English top-flight match against Leeds on Saturday, scheduled for 12:30 BST.
This news follows the recent announcement of a new four-year contract for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, confirmed on Wednesday.
