Jamal Musiala Prioritizes World Cup Over Injury Concerns, Rejects Kahn's Advice
Following Bayern Munich's significant Bundesliga achievement on Saturday evening, Jamal Musiala has firmly stated his intentions regarding the World Cup, contrasting with advice previously offered by former Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn. Kahn had suggested earlier in the week, in an interview with Sky Germany, that Musiala should dedicate more time to recovery, especially after a challenging injury sustained during last summer's Club World Cup.
Musiala, who recently returned to play, was not included in Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the March international break. The pressure on the now 23-year-old has intensified, particularly with his 18-year-old teammate Lennart Karl delivering exceptional performances in Musiala's absence. While Kahn's comments might have seemed well-intentioned, they have drawn considerable criticism for the legendary German goalkeeper in the German press.
Kahn's Stance on Musiala's World Cup Participation
Kahn had expressed his view to Sky, stating, "I believe he should forgo attending the World Cup." He further elaborated, "If I sense that something is not right with my game, I must work on myself to be fully prepared again. Jamal, like everyone else, needs to be at 100 percent if he wishes to play."
Musiala's Rebuttal and Determination
Speaking to Sky Germany after scoring his fourth goal in 14 appearances since his return in late January, Musiala conveyed his current state: "I'm getting into the action more effectively. Every minute where I can regain the feeling in my feet and legs is beneficial to me."
He continued, addressing Kahn's remarks, "I haven't read what he [Kahn] said. Regardless, I am determined to go to the World Cup."
