Speaking on the sidelines of the FIGC federal council meeting, Renzo Ulivieri, president of the Italian Coaches’ Association (Assoallenatori), addressed the potential choice between Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini for the new national team coach role. He acknowledged that it’s a complex decision.

“There are pros and cons no matter which way you go,” Ulivieri stated, emphasizing the difficulty of the decision for the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

The veteran coach suggested that both candidates bring distinct qualities to the table. Conte, known for his intense tactical approach and ability to instill a winning mentality, previously led Italy to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals. Mancini, on the other hand, has a reputation for developing young talent and fostering a more fluid style of play, having achieved significant success with Manchester City and Inter Milan, as well as leading Italy to Euro 2020 glory.

“It’s a question with no easy answer,” Ulivieri reiterated, implying that the FIGC will need to carefully weigh the specific needs and future direction of the national team when making their final selection.
