Juventus forward Jonathan David is reportedly being eyed by Olympique Lyonnais for a potential return to Ligue 1. David joined the Turin club on a free transfer from LOSC last summer.
The Canadian striker’s contract with Lille expired at the end of last season, and he had several offers. Juventus ultimately secured his signature, partly due to a €12.5 million commission paid to his representatives. However, his time at Juventus has been disappointing, with only eight goals and five assists in 46 competitive appearances. He has largely struggled to make a significant impact and has missed numerous scoring opportunities.
Juventus Hoping to Offload David
Following their failure to qualify for the Champions League, Juventus is facing financial pressure and is looking to generate funds through player sales. David could be one of those players, with the club hoping his performances at the upcoming World Cup might boost his profile and attract potential buyers.
According to French publication Le Progrès, a move back to France is considered David’s preferred option, and Olympique Lyonnais is keen to submit an offer. While other clubs may also be interested, David is reportedly seeking a club where he can regain his confidence after a challenging season in Italy.
Lyon had previously expressed interest in David in January, when it was evident he was struggling to adapt to Serie A with Juventus, and again in March.
