Preview Inter Warn Barcelona: ‘Contact Us Directly’ for Bastoni Transfer

Inter Milan has publicly addressed Barcelona’s keen interest in their star defender, Alessandro Bastoni, who is reportedly Barcelona’s primary defensive target for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Italian international is rumored to have given his approval for the move to the Catalan club.

The 26-year-old defender has allegedly rejected an offer from Liverpool in recent weeks, as he reportedly favors a transfer to Barcelona. Negotiations regarding personal terms between Barcelona and Bastoni’s representatives are already underway, with speculation suggesting a potential deal could be worth around €55 million, plus a young player.

Inter Responds to Barcelona’s Interest in Bastoni

Despite the growing reports, official negotiations between the two clubs have not yet commenced, with discussions seemingly proceeding through Bastoni’s agent. Inter’s Sporting Director, Piero Ausilio, addressed the situation at the Inside the Sport 2026 event, as quoted by Diario AS.

“Bastoni has a contract with Inter, and there are no indications he plans to leave. We are very satisfied with him and are confident he will continue to make significant contributions,” Ausilio stated. “If anyone is interested, they should call us; they have our contact information. We haven’t considered any tactical changes in the transfer market yet; we will postpone discussions about the future until things are calmer. Our current focus is on achieving our objectives.”

Could Inter Accept a Player Exchange for Bastoni?

Reports from Thursday indicated that Inter Milan is interested in young Barcelona right-back Hector Fort and might consider including him in an offer for Bastoni. Additionally, Roony Bardghji has been mentioned as another potential player for an exchange deal. Such a move would, of course, be contingent on the player agreeing to the terms. Inter’s willingness to consider a player-plus-cash deal will likely depend on their assessment of whether they can secure a valuable player with high potential in return.
