Italian international Guglielmo Vicario has received a nomination for the Premier League Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award, acknowledging his impressive displays for Tottenham Hotspur, particularly his heroic efforts against Chelsea.
Vicario’s season was unfortunately cut short due to injury, requiring surgery for a hernia in March. Prior to this, he was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Spurs, playing a crucial role in their successful bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League. His form had even sparked speculation about a potential move to Inter Milan.
Vicario Contends for Premier League Accolade
Vicario is among six goalkeepers shortlisted for the Premier League Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award. The winner will be determined by a combination of public votes and a panel of expert opinions.
Despite Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Vicario delivered a remarkable performance, making eight significant saves. Notably, he produced three crucial point-blank saves to deny Joao Pedro during that match.
