Tagliafico's Future: Juventus and Manchester United Monitoring Lyon Star

Nicolas Tagliafico could re-emerge as a player of interest for Juventus. The Argentine full-back was very close to joining the Bianconeri in the final days of the summer transfer window, and his continued presence at Lyon doesn't necessarily close the door on a move.

Recent reports from France suggest that Lyon might not consider the World Cup winner indispensable. His contract runs until June 30, 2027, and the club's financial situation could prompt them to explore a sale during the winter transfer period.

Juventus Was Close to Signing Tagliafico

Juventus's interest wasn't just a casual inquiry. In the closing hours of the summer market, Tagliafico expressed his willingness to move to Turin, and Juventus actively worked to provide Luciano Spalletti with another option on the left flank.

However, the move hinged on the departure of Juan Cabal, whom Atalanta was pursuing. The failure to reach an agreement for the Colombian player ultimately stalled Tagliafico's transfer, and he remained at Lyon.

Lyon May Be Open to a Sale

Just a few weeks later, the situation could become interesting again. Tagliafico is entering the final year of his contract, and his salary represents a significant cost for the French club. Lyon had already considered ways to reduce their wage bill after the European transfer window closed.

Consequently, Lyon might not be inclined to create obstacles if a satisfactory offer materializes. Otherwise, they risk losing the player for free when his contract expires next summer.

Manchester United Also Watching

Juventus isn't the only major club that has considered Tagliafico. Manchester United also gathered information on the player during the final hours of the summer market before deciding against pursuing the deal further.

French sources now indicate the Red Devils as a potential winter destination if a need arises on the left wing. However, there is currently no concrete offer from United, and the situation warrants continued observation.
