Napoli Leads the Chase for Lecce's Rising Star, Tiago Gabriel

Napoli is reportedly at the forefront of clubs vying for Lecce's promising defender, Tiago Gabriel. The Neapolitan club will get a direct look at their target during Saturday's game against Lecce, with the talented center-back firmly in their sights.

Lecce's director, Pantaleo Corvino, has publicly acknowledged Napoli's interest in Gabriel, though he emphasized that any potential transfer is still in its nascent stages. Gabriel was a highly sought-after player in January, and Lecce successfully fended off numerous approaches at that time.

According to reports, Lecce previously turned down a €22 million offer from Brentford for Gabriel and now values the 21-year-old at approximately €30 million. While Inter, Juventus, and AC Milan have also been monitoring the defender, Napoli has shown the most persistent interest. However, significant competition is anticipated from clubs in the Premier League, where Lecce previously had a successful sale with Patrick Dorgu.

Tiago Gabriel joined Lecce in January 2025 for just over €1 million from Estrela Amadora and rapidly established himself as a key player within six months. Napoli's current defensive needs highlight the urgency for reinforcements, especially given that last summer's signing, Sam Beukema, has not fully met expectations, and contract extension talks for Juan Jesus are currently stalled.
