Napoli Confirms No Offers for McTominay, Prioritizes Santos and Conte's Vision
Napoli's director, Giovanni Manna, has confirmed that the club has not received any official offers for midfielder Scott McTominay. While discussions with his representatives are ongoing, securing a new contract for him is not an immediate priority.
Manna recently offered insights into the club's transfer activities. Despite earlier reports from Italian media suggesting that the reigning Serie A champions were actively pursuing a contract extension for McTominay, Manna clarified that these negotiations are not yet at an advanced stage.
"Scott is a vital asset to our team," stated the director. "He genuinely enjoys being at Napoli, demonstrating his commitment both on the field and through his life in the city."
"With two years remaining on his current deal, we maintain a very transparent relationship with him. While discussions are underway, his contract renewal isn't a pressing concern right now. We fully recognize Scott's significance to the club. Furthermore, we haven't received any transfer bids, as the player himself has never indicated a wish to depart."
Napoli currently holds third place in the Serie A standings. A notable contribution has come from January recruit Alisson Santos, who has made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in just four league appearances.
Manna praised Santos, attributing his quick success to his "remarkable humility, energy, and eagerness to contribute." He added, "The option to make his move permanent is already in place, so there's no immediate action required from our side."
Santos arrived at Napoli on loan from Sporting CP during the winter transfer window, with the club holding a purchase option valued at €16.5 million.
Manna concluded by commending head coach Antonio Conte and affirmed that the club is actively planning for the future alongside the Italian strategist.
"It's standard practice to plan proactively," explained the director. "We've had a strong working relationship for two years, and the progress we've achieved has been exceptional. Under different conditions, we might not have reached third place or secured the Supercoppa. We approach the future with confidence and calm."
