Preview Athletic Club Targets Celtic Star for Inaki Williams Succession

Athletic Club is preparing for a new chapter under the management of Edin Terzic, who is set to replace Ernesto Valverde in the summer. Terzic has already begun scouting for the 2026-27 season. Despite the club’s strict Basque-only player policy, there are still opportunities for new signings.

One such opportunity has led Athletic to Scotland, where 15-year-old Zion Pullan has been making significant strides in Celtic’s youth academy. This season, Pullan has accumulated an impressive 58 goals and 35 assists for the Scottish club, recently showcasing his talent with the U17 squad.

While Pullan has represented Scotland’s U15 team on three occasions, he has also been called up to Spain’s U15 squad. He is eligible to join Athletic Club due to his birthplace in Tudela, Navarre. Reports from La Cantera de Lezama, as cited by ED, indicate that Pullan is highly regarded by Athletic’s management.

Pullan is recognized for his explosive one-on-one ability, his skill in exploiting space, and his knack for scoring goals. His versatility, allowing him to play as a winger or a striker, draws parallels to Athletic’s iconic player, Inaki Williams. With Inaki Williams now 32, the club’s hierarchy is hopeful of eventually replacing him with the young Celtic talent. Athletic may pursue a transfer for Pullan as early as this summer.

However, Athletic is not the sole suitor for Pullan. The teenager is attracting considerable interest from numerous clubs across Europe. Consequently, while it may be challenging for Celtic to retain their promising academy star, his eventual destination remains uncertain, and a move to San Mamés is not guaranteed. Nevertheless, Athletic Club officials will make an effort if Pullan is identified as their primary target.
