Inter Milan has reportedly identified Guglielmo Vicario as their primary goalkeeping target for the 2026-27 season. The Italian international is understood to be receptive to a return to Serie A, specifically with Inter, following a reported deterioration in his relationship with current club Tottenham Hotspur.
Inter’s Goalkeeping Strategy and Vicario’s Stance
The Nerazzurri are actively seeking a new starting goalkeeper for the upcoming season. Recent reports suggest that discussions with Vicario’s agents this month have confirmed his strong desire to rejoin Italy’s top flight. It’s noted that Vicario was close to joining Inter in 2023 before his move from Empoli to Tottenham.
A significant factor in this potential transfer is the alleged low point in Vicario’s relationship with Tottenham over recent months. This situation has reportedly bolstered Inter’s confidence in securing a deal with the Premier League side, who are currently battling to avoid relegation.
Transfer Fee and Inter’s Current Goalkeeping Situation
Inter anticipates that Tottenham’s asking price for Vicario will be in the range of €15 million to €20 million next summer, provided the London club maintains its Premier League status.
Regarding their existing goalkeeping options, Inter is not expected to offer a contract extension to Yann Sommer. However, there is a possibility that the Swiss international could remain as a second-choice goalkeeper for the next season if the club receives suitable offers for Josep Martinez.
