Preview UFC Sets Date for Inaugural Event in Qatar

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is scheduled to make its debut in Qatar on November 22nd, marking a significant milestone for the global mixed martial arts promotion.

The organization confirmed this historic move by announcing a collaboration with Visit Qatar. This partnership will see a UFC Fight Night event held at the ABHA Arena located in Doha.

UFC CEO Dana White commented on the company`s expanding global footprint, noting they are “going everywhere.” He highlighted the success of their long-standing presence in Abu Dhabi as a foundation for regional growth. White revealed that bringing UFC to Qatar has been a project in development for several years, influenced by the positive outcomes observed in neighboring territories like Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan.

Earlier speculation had suggested a possible May 17th event in Qatar, but that date instead hosted a card at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas. The official announcement of the November 22nd date now guarantees that fight enthusiasts in Doha will experience their first live UFC event.

Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, the CEO of Visit Qatar, underscored the importance of this partnership in solidifying Qatar`s reputation as a leading international destination for major sports competitions. He explained that the UFC event is part of a comprehensive series of significant activities taking place, supported by ongoing infrastructure advancements and growth in the events sector. Al-Mawlawi stated that incorporating UFC, which boasts a global fanbase exceeding 700 million, aligns with Qatar`s strategic direction and offers a unique opportunity to highlight the nation`s sporting capabilities and rich cultural heritage. He expressed eagerness to greet the worldwide UFC community and visitors in Doha this November, promising an “exceptional experience” that will demonstrate Qatar`s capacity to host world-class events and strengthen its international ties.
