The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Sunday they have signed veteran forward Scott Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract.
Sabourin, 32, spent the majority of last season with the San Jose Barracuda, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks. In 68 appearances, he recorded 10 goals and 25 points and served as an alternate captain.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound forward appeared in one NHL game for the Sharks last year, where he registered no points and finished with a minus-two rating in 10:27 of ice time.
Over his career spanning five seasons, Sabourin has played a total of 47 NHL games. His NHL stints include two separate periods with the Ottawa Senators (42 games), one game with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and four games with the Sharks. In those games, he accumulated two goals, eight points, and a career plus/minus rating of minus-10.
The forward, who hails from Orleans, Ontario, has played 532 games in the AHL across numerous teams, including the Barracuda, Belleville Senators, Toronto Marlies, Stockton Heat, San Diego Gulls, Iowa Wild, Ontario Reign, and Manchester Monarchs. In his extensive AHL career, he has tallied 88 goals and 181 points.
Sabourin was originally undrafted but signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in 2013. The 32-year-old later made his NHL debut in 2019 while playing for the Senators against the Maple Leafs, notably scoring his first career NHL goal on his very first shot.
