Matt Dumba is moving to his fourth team in just two years, following a decade spent with the Minnesota Wild.

On Thursday, the Dallas Stars announced that they have traded the defenseman and a second-round selection in the 2028 NHL Entry Draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for fellow blueliner Vladislav Kolyachonok.

Dumba is entering the final year of the two-year contract worth $7.5 million that he initially signed with Dallas.

Last season, the 30-year-old appeared in 63 regular-season games, recording one goal and nine assists. He did not participate in the team`s playoff run.

The 6-foot-1 defenseman, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, has career totals of 84 goals and 174 assists for 258 points over 737 games played with the Minnesota Wild, Arizona Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Dallas Stars.

Dumba was originally selected seventh overall by the Wild in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Kolyachonok, aged 24, was claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh from the Utah organization in February. He registered a combined two goals and five assists in 35 games played last season.

The Belarusian blueliner has accumulated four goals and 14 assists in 74 career NHL games across his time with the two organizations.

He is entering the final year of his contract, which carries a more cap-friendly salary of $775,000, providing salary cap relief for Dallas compared to Dumba`s $3.75 million cap hit.
