Preview Romelu Lukaku Withdraws from Belgium Squad to Focus on Fitness

Star striker Romelu Lukaku has withdrawn from the Belgian national team squad for their upcoming friendly matches against the United States and Mexico. The Belgian Football Association (KBVB) announced on Tuesday evening that Lukaku will use this international break to focus on his fitness after a prolonged period of injury.

Lukaku has seen limited playing time at his club, SSC Napoli, in recent weeks. Unlike his compatriot Kevin De Bruyne, who played 90 minutes recently, Lukaku is still working to regain his optimal physical condition following his long-term injury.

The KBVB stated that they respect Lukaku’s decision to prioritize his recovery and wish him all the best, a message also shared on X (formerly Twitter). Earlier, other key players such as Club Brugge’s Hans Vanaken and Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard were also deemed unfit and had to withdraw from the squad.
