Preview Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Lands NBA 2K26 Cover

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander`s remarkable summer continues to get better.

After recently earning significant honors including league MVP, a scoring title, his first NBA championship, and Finals MVP, the standout Oklahoma City Thunder player is adding another major achievement: becoming the cover athlete for the upcoming NBA 2K26 video game.

The announcement was made by the video game publisher on Tuesday. This news comes just one week after Gilgeous-Alexander agreed to a lucrative four-year, $285 million maximum contract extension, ensuring he remains with Oklahoma City through the 2030-31 season.

The 26-year-old had an outstanding performance throughout the past season, averaging 32.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 5 rebounds. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the Thunder to an impressive league-leading 68-14 record.

Oklahoma City demonstrated historic dominance, outscoring their opponents by an average margin of 12.9 points, which stands as the highest differential in NBA history. Their incredible season culminated in a hard-fought seven-game victory over the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the first player from the Thunder franchise to be featured alone on a 2K cover since Kevin Durant, who was the face of NBA 2K15. Durant had previously appeared on the shared cover for NBA 2K13.

While an official release date for NBA 2K26 has not yet been announced, the game is traditionally launched in September.
