Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman is projected to rejoin the team`s lineup in early November, as confirmed by head coach Kris Knoblauch. This timeline allows Hyman to mark November 1st on his calendar as a target date for his comeback.
Hyman, 33, recently informed reporters that he would not be available for the start of the regular season. However, he expressed confidence in his rehabilitation progress, stating he was “progressing really, really well” from his wrist injury.
The injury, which involved a fractured wrist and damaged ligaments, occurred during the playoffs. Hyman underwent surgery to address the issue. The incident specifically took place during Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars. While attempting to clear the puck from his defensive zone, Hyman was involved in a collision with Mason Marchment in the neutral zone.
Following the hit, Hyman immediately dropped his stick and headed to the locker room, clutching his right arm, indicating the severity of the injury.
In his fifth season with the Oilers last year, Hyman played in 73 games, contributing significantly with 27 goals and 44 points, including seven crucial game-winning goals. His temporary absence at the beginning of the season is expected to create opportunities for other players to step into more prominent roles within the team`s forward group, a point also noted by coach Knoblauch.
