The New York Rangers have secured their goaltending depth by signing netminder Dylan Garand to a one-year contract extension. The agreement was officially announced by the team on Sunday, though specific financial terms were not disclosed.

Garand, 23, has developed his skills over the past three seasons with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers` American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. During his 112 appearances with the Wolf Pack, he has posted an overall .902 save percentage (SV%) and a 2.92 goals-against average (GAA).

The Victoria, B.C., native is coming off his most impressive professional season to date. In 39 games, he recorded a career-best .913 SV% and a 2.73 GAA, accumulating a strong 20-10-8 record.

Standing six-foot-one and weighing 176 pounds, Garand was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. His international experience includes representing Canada at the 2021 and 2022 World Junior Championships, as well as participating in this year`s World Championship.
