The New York Islanders have announced the dismissal of Patrick Roy as their head coach, effective Sunday. Veteran coach Peter DeBoer has been named as his immediate successor.

Roy, 60, concluded his tenure with the Islanders after three seasons, where he compiled a record of 97 wins, 78 losses, and 22 overtime losses. He originally took over the coaching duties from Lane Lambert, who was let go on January 20, 2024. At the time of his departure, the Islanders held a season record of 42-31-5.
