UFC icon Randy Couture is now recuperating at home after being involved in a severe car accident at a Kansas City racetrack.

His representatives confirmed Wednesday to MMA Fighting that the UFC Hall of Famer has been discharged from a Las Vegas burn center and is receiving ongoing outpatient care.

The 62-year-old is recovering from first- and second-degree burns, as well as several broken ribs sustained in the incident. Despite his injuries, he was released to continue his recovery at home. He is anticipated to make a full recovery following the harrowing crash during race practice, which necessitated his airlift to a hospital.

Earlier reports of Couture`s release from the hospital were initially made by TMZ.

Couture had been preparing for an eventual debut in the National Hot Rod Association, having previously expressed a keen interest in transitioning into professional racing.

In a prior interview, Couture commented on his long-standing passion for racing: “I’ve been a fan of racing for 12, 13 years. From up in the stands it looks really easy—oh they just go fast… it’s so much more involved.”

Widely regarded as one of the UFC`s greatest champions, Couture holds a unique distinction as one of the few fighters to win titles in two weight classes – both heavyweight and light heavyweight. Inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006, he now contributes as a lead commentator for the PFL.
