Reports are circulating that AC Milan manager Max Allegri is planning a significant revamp of his team’s attack for Monday’s crucial Serie A trip to Napoli. The proposed changes could see Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku forming a brand new strike partnership upfront.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Monday at 19:45 UK time (20:45 CEST).

This fixture represents a major Scudetto battle between third-placed Milan and second-placed Napoli. Both teams are keen to close the gap on current league leaders Inter, who have recently shown signs of faltering.

The Rossoneri have been contending with several injury worries. Rafael Leao has been struggling with recurring hip inflammation, while Christian Pulisic only recently returned on Friday after his international commitments with the USMNT.

According to the latest information from Sky Sport Italia, Allegri was reportedly not fully confident in the fitness levels of his usual strikers, including long-term absentee Santiago Gimenez.

With these concerns in mind, he tested an entirely new strike partnership of Fullkrug and Nkunku during today’s training session.

These two players have been working consistently with Allegri over the past two weeks during the international break, a period when many other squad members were away. However, it remains to be seen whether they will ultimately be chosen to start tomorrow’s match.

In other team news, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is back in the squad for the first time since undergoing surgery for facial fractures. He sustained the injury in a collision with the Parma goalkeeper on February 22.

Matteo Gabbia, who also picked up an injury in that same match, remains sidelined and unavailable for selection.

Possible Milan Lineup (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Fullkrug, Nkunku
