The Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Ty Voit are going their separate ways.
On Tuesday, the team initiated the process of terminating the young winger`s contract by placing him on unconditional waivers, as reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
According to David Alter of The Hockey News, this parting was a mutual and amicable decision.
Voit, aged 22, became part of the Toronto organization during the 2023-24 season. He played a single game in the AHL before spending most of last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL, where he accumulated 37 points (eight goals) over 63 games.
The Maple Leafs originally drafted Voit 153rd overall in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. If he successfully clears waivers, he will gain free agent status.
In related news, the Calgary Flames also placed Joni Jurmo on unconditional waivers for contract termination.
