The chapter for Ryan Reaves with the Toronto Maple Leafs has concluded.
Toronto announced Thursday that they have completed a trade, sending the forward to the San Jose Sharks in return for defenseman Henry Thrun.
Reaves, 38 years old, participated in just 35 regular-season matchups for the Maple Leafs during the 2024-25 campaign, accumulating two assists. He spent a total of two seasons in Toronto, dressing for 84 games wearing the team`s colours.
Sharks general manager Mike Grier commented on the acquisition, stating, “We are pleased to welcome Ryan to our organization. He is expected to bring enthusiasm, character, physical presence, and resilience to our team. He has been a member of numerous successful teams, and I personally witnessed the positive energy he can contribute to a group during my time with the Rangers.”
Thrun, a 24-year-old, appeared in 60 games for the Sharks last season. He recorded two goals and 12 points while averaging over 17 minutes of ice time per game. He was initially drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft but was later traded to San Jose in 2023 in exchange for a third-round draft pick.
Across his NHL career, he has played in 119 games, tallying five goals and 25 points.
