SALT LAKE CITY — Jack McBain has finalized a new five-year agreement with the Utah Mammoth valued at $21.25 million.

This contract carries a salary cap hit of $4.25 million annually and runs through the 2029-30 NHL season. The announcement came Monday, just over a day after the team had filed for salary arbitration with the restricted free agent forward.

“He is a big, strong, physical player who competes hard on a nightly basis and brings a gritty toughness to our group,” stated General Manager Bill Armstrong.

“Jack is an important part of the championship-caliber team we are building, and we look forward to having him back on our roster for the foreseeable future.”

The 25-year-old McBain is coming off a career-best season, having registered 27 points and appearing in all 82 games. He was one of only six players to participate in every game during the team`s inaugural season in Salt Lake City.

“Jack’s versatility as a player, his care for his teammates and his demonstrated willingness to do whatever it takes to win, are all critical elements to our future team success,” said Chris Armstrong, President of Hockey Operations.

McBain has accumulated 82 points over 241 games with the franchise since its relocation from Arizona to Utah. Since his NHL debut in April 2022, he ranks third across the league in hits with 832.
