According to an ESPN report, Las Vegas is slated to host the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This pivotal event, expected on December 5th, will determine the group stage matchups for the expanded 48-team tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Pedro Cedillo, an executive from Pachuca, shared with ESPN his expectation that the draw will indeed occur in Las Vegas.
Cedillo stated, “I understand it will be in Las Vegas, and that`s where we need to be present to provide information about the city of Pachuca, the state of Hidalgo, and our two venues. December 5, if I`m not mistaken, is precisely when the draw will take place, or at the beginning of December.” It`s important to note that FIFA has not yet officially confirmed either the date or the specific location for the draw.
While Las Vegas previously hosted World Cup draws for the 1994 tournament at the Las Vegas Convention Center, that venue is reportedly unavailable on December 5th. The Sphere had also been mentioned as a possible location for the upcoming draw; however, current reports suggest it will not be the chosen site, possibly due to a scheduling conflict with a Zac Brown Band performance.
The eleven host cities across the United States are geographically categorized into three regions: the East (New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Atlanta), the Central region (Kansas City, Dallas, Houston), and the West (Los Angeles, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area). Mexico will contribute three host venues: Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City, while Canada will host matches in Toronto and Vancouver. The highly anticipated final of the 2026 World Cup is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
