The New York Islanders have officially signed forward Victor Eklund to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced.
Eklund was selected by the Islanders in the first round of the recent NHL Entry Draft, picked 16th overall in June.
The 18-year-old forward, who hails from Stockholm, Sweden, spent the past season playing for Djurgardens in Sweden`s HockeyAllsvenskan league. He recorded 31 points, including 19 goals and 12 assists, over 42 games.
Internationally, Eklund has represented Sweden at the last two World Junior Championships, earning a bronze medal with the team in 2024.
The Islanders acquired the 16th overall selection used to draft Eklund, along with the 17th overall pick, from the Montreal Canadiens in a trade involving defenseman Noah Dobson.
