Lukaku's Case: Napoli in Trouble
Romelu Lukaku is nearing a move to Fenerbahçe, having reportedly reached an agreement on contract terms. Negotiations are underway between Napoli and the Turkish club for his transfer fee, with Napoli's valuation approaching 10 million euros.
The Belgian striker has expressed his willingness to transfer to Turkey, potentially leaving Napoli during the current transfer window. While a contract agreement is a significant step, the deal is not yet finalized. Napoli and Fenerbahçe still need to agree on the transfer fee, as an initial offer did not meet Napoli's demands.
Lukaku Accepts Fenerbahçe's Proposal
Fenerbahçe is said to have presented Lukaku with a very favorable two-year contract. The player has reportedly agreed in principle to the Istanbul club's project, signaling a desire for a new experience after two seasons with Napoli. In Turkey, Lukaku would find an ambitious environment and a team built to compete both domestically and in European competitions. Their offensive lineup already includes Vedat Muriqi, who rejoined Fenerbahçe after his stint at Mallorca.
Lukaku's arrival would allow the Turkish club to field two physically imposing strikers, using them either as alternatives or, in certain situations, within the same offensive system.
Napoli Seeks Approximately 10 Million Euros
The main obstacle now lies in the agreement between the clubs. According to various reports, Napoli has rejected an initial offer below their valuation and continues to request a sum close to 10 million euros.
Lukaku's contract is set to expire in June 2027. The remaining duration of his agreement limits Napoli's ability to demand an excessively high fee, but the club is unwilling to let the player go under terms they deem disadvantageous.
In July, Beşiktaş also showed interest. Reports from Football Italia indicated that Napoli had already set a valuation of 10 million euros for the player's departure.
Sources are not in complete agreement regarding the identity of the club that submitted the previous 6 million euro offer; some accounts attribute it to Fenerbahçe, while others point to Beşiktaş. The central issue remains the gap between the initial offer and Napoli's asking price.
