The Boston Bruins have finalized an amateur tryout agreement for forward James Hagens with their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

General Manager Don Sweeney expressed enthusiasm about Hagens joining the Bruins organization, stating, “We’re very excited to have James join the Bruins organization and take this next step. James is an important part of our future, and this is a great opportunity for him to get immediate experience at the professional level in Providence and continue his development.”

Hagens, a 19-year-old, was a seventh-overall selection by Boston in the 2025 NHL Draft. During his sophomore season at Boston College, he topped the Hockey East conference in scoring, accumulating 47 points (23 goals, 24 assists) across 34 games. In the preceding 2024-25 season, Hagens earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, contributing 37 points over 37 games.

Originally from Hauppauge, N.Y., Hagens has competed for the United States internationally, participating in two IIHF World Junior Championship tournaments (2025, 2026) and two IIHF U-18 Men’s World Championships (2023, 2024). His international accolades include gold medals from the 2025 World Juniors and the 2023 U-18 competitions.
