
The Chicago Blackhawks and goaltender Arvid Söderblom have successfully avoided arbitration, reaching an agreement on a new contract.
On Saturday, the team officially announced that Söderblom has signed a two-year deal carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $2.75 million.
The 25-year-old netminder appeared in a career-high 36 games last season, where he posted a record of 10 wins, 18 losses, and 7 overtime losses. During this period, he achieved career-best statistics with a 3.18 goals-against average (GAA) and an .898 save percentage (SV%).
An undrafted Swedish talent, Söderblom has played all 86 of his career NHL games with the Blackhawks, accumulating a 3.55 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage overall.
His salary arbitration hearing had originally been scheduled for July 28.
