Evander Kane Welcomes Trade, Blueger Hopes to Stay with Canucks
Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane has expressed his openness to a trade to a contending team, aiming for another Stanley Cup run. Conversely, Teddy Blueger, another Canucks forward, desires to remain in Vancouver, though no contract talks have materialized yet.
Conor Garland’s name has also frequently appeared in trade rumors over the years, to the point where it no longer distracts him. While the Canucks are not actively seeking to trade Garland, they are evaluating all potential options. Should the Canucks move Kane or Blueger, they could potentially acquire a third or fourth-round draft pick.
Canadiens Prioritize Top-Line Winger, Seek to Move Patrik Laine
The Montreal Canadiens’ primary objective is to acquire a right winger for their top line, playing alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. To achieve this, they are actively seeking to trade Patrik Laine and his significant $8.7 million salary cap hit.
Given Laine’s substantial cap figure, the Canadiens may need to retain some salary to complete a trade, as their overall cap space is limited. The priority remains finding a permanent right-winger for their first line.
While the team is methodical in its approach, it’s expected that they will make simultaneous moves: moving Laine to create cap flexibility and subsequently bringing in a player who aligns with their core and long-term plans, rather than an expensive short-term rental. Laine is prominently featured on trade watchlists, indicating his active availability, with the Canadiens working towards making a deal happen.
