As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, set to kick off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, Mexico, details regarding ticket acquisition for fans have been unveiled. This expanded tournament, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marks the first time 48 teams will participate, up from 32. This format change introduces a new Round of 32 following the group stage, preceding the traditional Round of 16.
While not all qualifying teams have been confirmed, more nations are securing their spots during each international window leading up to the World Cup draw, scheduled for December 5 in Washington D.C., after the inter-confederation playoffs. However, even before this draw, a lottery-based ticketing program will commence on September 10, offering fans an initial opportunity to purchase tickets for this highly anticipated event.
Understanding the Ticketing System
Interested fans can register on FIFA`s official website by creating a FIFA ID, a prerequisite for ticket purchases. The presale draw entry period opens on September 10 at 11 a.m. ET and closes on Friday, September 19. This exclusive presale is available only to Visa cardholders.
Following the entry period, a draw will occur, and selected participants will receive email notifications. These fortunate fans will be granted a specific date and time slot to purchase tickets, subject to availability, with purchasing windows starting on October 1. During this phase, single-match tickets for all games, along with venue-specific and team-specific packages, will be offered.
Ticket prices will start at $60 for group stage matches during the initial sale, with premium seats for the World Cup final potentially reaching up to $6,730.
- Phase 2: An early ticket draw, with a registration window anticipated from October 27-31. This phase also requires an application, and selected individuals will receive emails with allocated slots for ticket purchases.
- Phase 3: A random selection draw, also necessitating registration, will occur after the group stage draw on December 5. By this point, fans will know team placements, allowing them to purchase tickets for specific venues.
Closer to the tournament date, additional opportunities to purchase tickets will be available for those who missed the presale draw or wish to acquire more. FIFA will also launch an official resale platform to prevent unauthorized resales, and a dedicated ticket exchange platform will be available for residents in Mexico.
Hospitality packages are currently available for purchase, offering three distinct options:
- Single Match Offerings: Starting at $1,350 per person, this package includes one group stage match of your choice (excluding host nations) and one Round of 32 match. It also provides access to FIFA hospitality services on match days.
- Venue Series: Priced from $8,275, this package enables fans to attend all matches at a chosen venue (4-9 matches), covering all match days and stages, complete with matchday hospitality.
- Follow My Team: Beginning at $6,750, this package, currently unavailable for host nations, allows fans to follow their chosen team through all its group stage matches and one Round of 32 match. Matchday hospitality access is included, similar to other packages.
